I will be the first to say that broccoli has never been one of my favorite foods….let alone a snack that I would normally choose to munch on during the day. But I read recently just how important this little green vegetable is especially for women.
Broccoli has lots of indole-3-carbinol and sulforaphane– two powerful shields against cancer. They lower blood levels of tissue-damaging estrogens, and they prevent normal cells from mutating into cancerous ones.
So ladies, eat your broccoli!!
Eating 1 cup of broccoli daily can lower your breast-cancer risk as much as 32%, plus help protect against ovarian, cervical, stomach, and colon cancers, according to recent research.
So go ahead, grab a bowl of steamed broccoli….spritz with lemon–and come on back to your laptop. I’ll be waiting (and munching on some broccoli too!)
