The Work At Home Mom Spotlight

I am going to try and spotlight a new work from home mom here every week or so (if you have a wahm story to tell and would like to be featured here, please let me know !!). I love reading and hearing about moms at home that have succeeded in starting a business or finding real work from homes jobs–I think we all need reminders that it can be done!
This week, the wahm spotlight is on Sallianne Norelli of www.needwritinghelp.com.

Sallianne is a single work at home mom who helps other moms succeed in business. So if your dream has always been to work for yourself or to be home with your kids while also adding to the household income, Sallianne  is here to help!  She offers writing and promotion help to get your business out there on social media and beyond. Sallianne says, “I’m a single mom and I am doing all this without a second income as a safety net. That means you too can succeed in a work at home situation too if you put your mind to it.”

As a freelance writer, she has seen lean times and good times. But she attributes her success to being stubborn enough never to give up. “I can’t imagine going back to a 9-5 job as I suffered through for so many years in corporate America. I will do anything to keep working for myself. It takes a drive like that to succeed.”
Sallianne has some great tips for moms new to the business world or changing careers to stay home and run their own businesses:
  • Be certain of the subject of your business. You will spend many hours each day working at it, so make sure it’s something you love
  • Don’t fall for get rich quick schemes offered online. Don’t spend your precious time on any business that gives you a sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach (filling out surveys online,etc.). If it feels wrong, listen to your own sixth sense and do something else.
  • Set up shop as inexpensively as possible. Business cards are available cheaply online at moo.com and zazzle.com. Start with these and hand them out everywhere you go.
  • Start talking up your business as much as you can to anyone who will listen.
  • Do the things you’re good at (sales, creating) yourself and hire or barter with another mom in business for things you’re not so good at (marketing, logo design, etc.)
  • Have confidence that you will succeed. Don’t give up after a few days or weeks or even months. It takes time to build any business.
  • Set hours when you will work and give yourself permission to be off duty. No one can work 24/7 and still remain sane.
  • Ask for help when you need it. You can’t do it all yourself.
Have questions for Sallianne? She can be reached at writerinct@gmail.com, and please be sure to stop by and visit her at the Single Successful You blog at www.singlesuccessfulyou.blogspot.com
And special thanks to Sallianne for sharing how she is successfully woking from home!
