What Do I Need To Become a Tutor With OpenEnglish?
There are requirements potential ESL tutors must meet, with the the main criteria being that you are a fluent native English speaker as well as being able to speak and write Spanish or Portuguese, or have experience teaching to native speakers of these languages.
All new tutors will be required to become certified before accepting tutoring assignments. You will not have to pay for the certification course, it is provided free of charge by the company.
Note: you must be available to teach at least 15 hours of classes per week online, between the hours of 6pm and 12 am.
Getting Paid:
You will be paid $9 per class to start, then $10 per class after the first 6 invoice periods (bi-monthly, approximately 15 days between invoices), $10.50 after 12 invoice periods, $11 after 18 invoice periods and $12 per class after teaching 48 consecutive invoice periods in good standing. (Each class is 45 minutes long and all materials are provided by Open English.)
Tutors working from home are Independent Contractors, and as such you will be responsible for your taxes.
