Yay, it is Friday again! I am trying very hard these days to take as much time as possible away from the computer on the weekends, and spend it instead with my family! I cannot honestly say that I close my laptop every Friday evening and walk away from it until Monday mornings, but I am committed to only short, infrequent weekend ‘pit stops.’
So to kick off the start of a weekend where I hope you too can spend more time hanging out with your kids and having some fun, here is a recipe for a yummy TGIF drink!
Hibiscus Tea with Vodka and Citrus
{{This delicious sounding tea drink comes from Giada De Laurentiis!}}
Ingredients: (for 4-6 servings)
- 4 cup(s) water
- 2 cup(s) (2 ounces) dried, sweetened hibiscus flowers, dried rose petals, or hibiscus, rose hip, or Red Zinger tea bags (try Trader Joe’s)
- 1/3 cup(s) sugar, or to taste
- 2 tablespoon(s) fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon(s) fresh lime juice
- 1 cup(s) vodka
- 1 cup(s) ice
To Make:
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, hibiscus flowers, and sugar over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, stir occasionally, until sugar has dissolved. Let cool 25 minutes, then add lemon juice, lime juice, and vodka.
- Place ice in a tall pitcher. Strain tea into pitcher and discard flowers. Refrigerate before serving.
And of course, skip the vodka if desired, and just enjoy the delicious tea!
